Movie Review: “Beetlejuice” Halloween classic

The classic movie “Beetlejuice” is a great watch. While this movie tends to be labeled as a Halloween movie, it is overall a goofy and strange movie. Adam and Barbara Maitland played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, pass away without knowing and wake up in their home thinking that everything is normal until they realize they cannot step foot out of their home. While the Maitland’s are still unsure of their circumstances, a new family arrives and begins to bring their belongings in. The new family wants to change the entire outlook of the Maitlands’ beloved home. Adam and Barbara finally recognize they both have passed. They decide there needs to be a plan to get this family out of their home.

This is the movie “Beetlejuice” directed by Tim Burton. This movie has it all. The plot thickens after the couple finds out they can hire a ghoul by the name of Beetlejuice to extract the couple from their home, all they have to do is say the name three times and he will arrive. Little do they know, all that may come from this ghoul is trouble. Another attention-drawing factor is how smoothly the characters’ costumes were executed. They show everyone’s personality, especially the goth daughter of the new family Lydia Deetz played by Winona Ryder, another amazing actress.

If the idea of spirits, monsters, and haunting excites, this movie is the perfect match. Everything about it screams Halloween and will put any viewer into a Halloween yet also quirky mood. Tim Burton sets the eerie scene in every movie he directs and this one is no exception. Do not miss out on this classic Halloween movie.
