With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the varsity football team has a lot on the line, including the conference title. This Friday, they will play against Kewaskum for the Homecoming game. Kewaskum has an in conference record of 3-1 while Berlin’s is 4-0.

“It is another big game for us. We have put ourselves in a very good position in the conference standings and if we can get a win Friday, we’ll be in a really good spot with two weeks remaining in the regular season,” Head Coach Joe Stellmacher said.

In terms of the conference championship, a win for Berlin would mean they would be the only undefeated team in the East Central Conference. Plymouth, Port Washington and Kewaskum are all tied for second right now with a record of 3-1.

If we win Friday we will remain in first place in the conference. If we lose we would have to beat Port Washington week nine to tie the conference,” quarterback Frank Kujawa said.

The last time that Berlin won the conference championship was in 2016. That year the conference title was a three way tie between Plymouth, Kewaskum and Berlin.

We are going against a very good team. It is going to be a four-quarter battle and hopefully we can execute and play clean football to get a win,” Stellmacher said.

A win against Kewaskum on Friday will not come easily. Berlin will have to play very well defensively.

“We need to limit turnovers and penalties. Kewaskum also has a very good offense, we will need to be on our game defensively to slow them down,” Stellmacher said.
