Mercers start new family with baby boy

Baby Jace takes a nap as he rests in his parents arms. He was born on March 23, at 7 a.m. “Jeremy has also been a huge help and very hands on which has made the transition easier for all of us. We are a great team!” Sara Mercer said.

On March 23 at 7 a.m, Jace Keehr Mercer was brought into this world. He is the first addition to physical education teacher Jeremy Mercer’s family. This is a big adjustment as learning to be a parent is a big change. Jeremy Mercer says he has had an easy adjustment to becoming a parent.

“I have adjusted quite well. My wife is a great mom with lots of experience with babies so that also has made the transition to parenthood much easier,” Jeremy Mercer said.

Usually lack of sleep is one of the struggles new parents have to deal with in the early months. The Mercer family has been lucky with the amount of sleep they have been getting.

“Knock on wood, Jace has been sleeping really well.  From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. he typically only wakes up once so I have been getting pretty decent sleep,” Jeremy Mercer said.

There are many wonderful things about starting a family as well. For Sara Mercer, she says that one of the best parts about starting a family is being able to see the growth of the baby as time goes on.

“The best part about starting a family has been becoming a parent with Jeremy and watching Jace grow together. My heart bursts. I love him so much! It’s so crazy how such a small baby can come into your life, steal your heart and change your life so quickly. I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Sara Mercer said.
