The girls swim team placed last at the Appleton West invite Friday,Sept. 13 for their third meet of the season.
“The team actually performed very well,” Captain Caliber Hartzke said.
Captain Codi Nowicki said that their 200 medley is their best relay as of right now because all of the swimmers are proficient in their own strokes.
“Caliber is so awesomely good, her backstroke start is very impressive,” Nowicki said about the starter of their 200 medley.
The girls swim team has been using interval training in practices preparing for their events individually and for the relays.
“We did 10-200’s and 20-25’s with certain intervals, and for the 25’s you had to do push ups, pull ups or ab rollers,” junior Kyla Manata said
The captains have both been on the swim team all four years.
“I swim the 100 backstroke; that’s my best event. (I) won conference last year. That’s when I’m practicing my best,” Hartzke said.
Despite the practices being difficult and the girls not placing high at the meet, team morale is high.
“We have so much fun at practice. We all talk and are on good terms with each other,” Nowicki said.
The team’s next meet is tomorrow at Plymouth.
