With conference change, varsity football maintains winning record

The football team has a current record of 5 and 1. Even after changing conferences and playing against unfamiliar teams, the team has performed well so far this season. 

“We’ve had some pretty competitive games this season,” quarterback Aaron Bartol said. “The new conference put a different perspective and goal in mind because we are with schools closer to our size so it’s more evenly matched.”

The varsity football team won 42 to 0 against Mauston on Homecoming night. This was the team’s fifth game of the season. (AJ Elm)

Football’s one and only loss was 34 to 45 against Kiel on August 30. Since the game against Kiel, no opponent has scored against them.

“It was week two, we gave Kiel 45 points that game,” Coach Joe Stellmacher said. “Since that game our defense has really stepped up, we haven’t let any team get any points on us.”

Their next game is against the Wisconsin Dells in the Dells on Friday, Oct. 4. 

“It’s a big game against the Dells, but our defense is stronger and our attention to detail is getting better,” Stellmacher said.

According to wissports.net the Wisconsin Dells also have a current record of 5 and 1.

Girls Swim team breaks records at conference meet in Chilton
The seniors celebrated their senior night on Oct. 15, the same night they had their pink out game. The seniors made posters showcasing their whole volleyball career ever since they started playing. “This team has become like family to me and I am beyond grateful to have their support,” senior Samantha Bartels said.

I am very excited and feel like we have a chance to go to state as a team.”

Berlin High School played against KML at home and lost 8-0. Their next game is the Lomira tournament tomorrow.
