Senior JuliAnna Plantz expresses herself through unique body piercings, tattoos, and her nails. She has a total of 18 tattoos and piercings combined.
“I have nine piercings including my lip, two on each side of my nose, my septum, my industrial, my seconds, my belly button, and I have my other cartilage done,” Plantz said.
Plantz’s inspiration for these various piercings came from her cousins, who have the same combinations on their faces.
“I wanted to have the same combos as them because then we can all match and have that bond, but also have our own style. They have different color metals, and I have silver so we are all different but the same in design,” Plantz said.
Art comes in all different forms. Plantz takes different tattoo designs and adds her own personal and unique spin on them to make them her own.
“I think it is so cool that you can have permanent ink on your body, and you can tell a story and be different from everyone else. I like the aspect of being unique through the designs I select,” Plantz said.
Tattoos come in different forms, shapes, and sizes. They can tell a story and mean something or represent a milestone to the person wearing them.
“I have a tattoo on my forearm that says ‘Let Them,’ it represents my struggles with people in high school and signifies how far I have come as a person. Most importantly to just express myself,” Plantz said.
Having external body art is visible to everyone who can see it, and it tells people a lot about who they are.
“I think JuliAnna’s body art is very cool, and shows her personality and growth as a person,” senior Lezlie Ramirez said.

Other than Plantz’s permanent body art she has also started getting her nails done, something more temporary that she changes periodically.
“I have just started getting my nails done, and I like changing them up to go with the mood or the way I have been feeling during that period. I think it’s fun and a cool way to express myself, but also being able to change it is cool, too,” Plantz said.
