Student Council hosts yearly Halloween Costume Contest

The Student Council held the annual Halloween Costume Contest on Friday, October 31. The contest was hosted in the commons during lunch, at 1:05 pm. Three staff members, English teacher Erika Crowley, Vice Principal Kurt Schommer, and Student Council Advisor Jennifer Leahy, were chosen as judges by Student Council. They selected the three best dressed students who will receive cash prizes. Winners received $30 for first place, $20 for second, and $10 for third. This year’s winners were sophomore Elizabeth Kasuboski in first, junior Gary Phelps in second, and freshman Gabriella Cauley in third.

School board holds annual community meeting, passes budget, reduces size
On October 23 at 7:35 a.m., the fire alarm was pulled because of the appearance of smoke in the middle school. We know now that there was not an actual fire, and it was the cause of an overheated motor inside a heating unit. “I should’ve just turned around and gone back home, but I wanted to see if there was an actual fire,” freshman Haley Hitz said.
Students, staff remain calm during fire evacuation
Students head home after school through the newly opened gate. “Students will be able to exit the lot quicker with two exits versus one. Hopefully, there is a shorter line to leave and fewer cars blocking parents from entering our pick-up lot, ” Principal Bryant Bednarek said.
