Sophomore April Deleon’s favorite song currently is “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby” by Cigarettes After Sex. She listens to it for its calming lyrics and has been enjoying it for a year or two.

Freshman Eva Vang has been creating art for as long as she can remember, using many varieties of mediums and finding inspiration wherever she goes. The art piece shown above is one of her favorite creations. “This painting is titled ‘Light.’” It was inspired by the Greek story of Icarus; he was a boy who had wax wings and flew too close to the sun,” Vang said.

Freshman Josue Valtierrez Rodriguez (in red) has been playing soccer since the 2nd grade and has played for teams such as Wisconsin International Soccer in Spain and the YMCA. Valtierrez Rodriguez participated in last summer’s Donosti Cup held in Spain. Valtierrez Rodriguez shares his favorite aspects of Spain. “The beaches, all the stores and the food,” Valtierrez Rodriguez said.

The ECC Perspectives literary magazine is publishing nine pieces of student work. The English Department selects the work based on writing merit and how the writing represents the school and the student body. “I know we've got lots of creative writers out there, so I encourage everyone else to think about that next year. It would be a great thing on your resume to say you are a published author,” English teacher Andrew Reise said.
