Despite changes and horrible weather, the Student Council will continue to uphold Winterfest formality standards and stick to the pastimes. Winterfest will be held Saturday Feb. 7, from 8-11 p.m, in the commons.
The Winterfest theme will be “Great Gatsby,” which will include art deco props and color themes similar to the book and film.
“It was actually really easy this year. We had a student, Meradeth Reinsbach, come up with it before we had discussed it as a Student Council, and everyone decided that was really good and we all voted on it,” Student Council co-president Ella Pulvermacher said.
The Student Council also decided to keep the dress code the same as last year.
“The theme is semi-formal. No jeans, athletic wear, sweatshirts, or hats,” Student Council adviser Jenny Leahy said.
The budget is coming directly from the Student Council’s funds. That covers the cost of decorations, concessions, and anything extra.
“The funds that the Student Council uses for Winterfest come from the concession stand sales, rootbeer floats, and past Winterfest dances,” Leahy said.
Frequent dance attendees know that finding the right thing to wear is very important.
“I wore a gold sparkly dress last year. I’ll be wearing a teal sparkly dress this year,” sophomore Olivia Lake said.
