Artificial intelligence, also widely known as AI, is an ever-growing form of judgment and a form of new perspective. Recently, it has been mostly catching the attention of younger generations.
Around 55-60% of responders to the poll The Red ‘n’ Green sent out said that AI was an educational tool for them, 20-22% needed someone to talk to and receive advice, and 10-13% used it for entertainment purposes.
“Mostly advice, and someone to talk to because I’m an only child and I can’t talk to my parents about that.” When asked what they talked about with their AI chatbot, one anonymous responder said this shows how AI isn’t just for making homework easier; it is also a support tool for many.
Snapchat has over 400 million daily users, and all of them have access to Snapchat’s relatively new feature, Snapchat AI. Snapchat AI was originally created for Snapchat+ subscribers in February 2023, but became available to all users in April 2023. Many in the poll said that Snap AI was great for getting answers on assignments and classwork and getting quick information.
Using AI for any reason has been heavily looked down upon in the media, and in everyday life as well. Some find it shameful and feel the need to conceal it.
“The knowledge that I was interacting with something not human, as if it were one, made me feel as if I should hide it. Even with AI Dungeon, it was still embarrassing, and many don’t know that I used it,” anonymous responder said.
