Cookie Jar Gingersnaps 

This recipe is my grandma’s recipe and she makes this recipe because they are my grandpa’s favorite cookies. She would make them every year for Christmas. For as long as I can remember my grandpa has always had these cookies in his office at the bank. Since it was such a well-liked recipe, my mom started making them which got me making them too.

                                                                                                                  

Ingredients:                                                                                                 

¾ cup shortening 

1 cup sugar

1 egg

¼ cup molasses

2 cups flour 

2 tsp baking soda

1 ½  or more tsp ginger 

1 ½ or more tsp cinnamon 

½ tsp salt

Sugar for topping

In a large bowl, cream the shortening and sugar. Make sure the sugar and shortening are creamy and not bumpy. It may take some time to get it smooth but keep mixing.
