Food service staff get ready to prep for the high school lunch following clean up after the middle school lunch. This week is recognized as National School Lunch Week.

The week of October 9-13 is recognized as National School Lunch week.

According to Superintendent Dr. Emmett Durtschi, the Berlin Area School District, the food service staff serves approximately 137,700 lunches a year and 50,400 breakfasts.

“Some kids here might only eat once a day and that’s here at school. Other kids may not be able to eat breakfast or lunch at home so I like helping the community and feeling like I’m a part of something bigger than just me. I also like having weekends off,” food service staff Anthony Shallock said.
