The track team competed in the ECC Conference at Plymouth High School. The girls scored a 122 over all for team scoring putting them in third place. The boys scored a 43, putting them in seventh place. Hartzke and her relay teams got first in the 4×800 and second in the 4×400 at regionals on May 20.
“They all worked hard,” track and field coach Joe Stellmacher said.
The team did not place any new records here, but did during this season.
“We did not place any new records at the meet but this season we had a student make a new record for the long jump at 17’ 8”, Katera Hartzke.” Stellmacher said.
Team members watched others’ events, cheering them on.
“I cheered on and watched the hurdles event,” sophomore Katera Hatzke said.
The boys on the team ran and placed themselves well in ranking. Junior Fenix Cervantes landed in 14th place with a time of 2:34.
“I did the 800 meter and we did our best in this event. I feel like we really pushed ourselves in all of our events,” Cervantes said.
Hartzke took part in the girls relay event helping place the girls in third.
“I took part in the 4×400 girls relay race. We placed third overall in the race. We pushed ourselves really hard for that race,” Harzke said
They will be moving to WIAA D2 Sectionals 2 in Freedom tomorrow.
