Many people see cars as simply a means of transportation, shopping around for cars that will reliably get them from one place to another. However, for students like junior Meradeth Reinsbach, cars are much more than a way to get from one point to another. Reinsbach’s interest in cars has lasted throughout her whole life, and in the future she hopes to further her collection of interesting cars.
“I got my first car on July 10, 2024. I had it for about a month before I sold it, and then I bought my current car on September 7, 2024,” Reinsbach said. “I kinda knew going into it that I wanted a Fiero. I just loved the look of them and think they’re just really pretty and cool cars.”
Reinsbach started her collection by saving up and buying her first car, her Fiero, for relatively cheap from a collector who didn’t drive it. She took this car around to car shows and eventually sold it when she got a good offer. After selling that car, she used the money earned to buy a new car, a ‘79 Corvette.
“I bought a ‘79 Corvette; I knew I wanted a Corvette ever since I was little, I just didn’t know if I could buy it for myself. I got it a few months after getting my license so I was beyond excited,” Reinsbach said. “As soon as I saw the car I knew I loved it. I started it up for the first time and I was sold. I knew it was the car I wanted so I went back about a week later and bought it. She still needs some work, but I really do love my car.”
Reinsbach’s love for cars has been with her for her entire life. Her father, Joe Reinsbach, has supported her love for cars since she was a kid.
“I have always tried to instill in Meradeth that if you work hard, you can do great things, like get a nice car and house. Apparently my music and taste in cool cars has grown on her,” Joe said. “It is weird as a parent watching your child go from a carseat in the back to driving you around. But I guess such is life.”
Junior Tasi Sanchez has also recognized Meradeth’s love for cars and has happily ridden in all of the cars Meradeth has owned.
“I think they’re super cool,” Sanchez said. “I think it’s cool when cars make loud noises. I also think it’s cool when they’re super sculpted.”
In the future, Meradeth plans on collecting more cars due to her interest in them.
“I’ve always kinda liked cars since I was little, and I would love to keep the cool car thing going,” Meradeth said. “I’m going to need a car, so I might as well have a cool one.”
Meradeth does not only love cars for their appearance or the noises they make; they also offer opportunities for her to connect with her father Joe.
“The coolest thing about my current car is probably the speakers. I spend a lot of time driving around listening to music, and it was just a fun project for me and my dad to do,” Meradeth said. “We built and installed the whole sound system together so that was just a good memory.”
Overall, Meradeth’s unique interest in cars offers her an opportunity to both show off her cool cars and connect with her family and friends.
“Her car is in storage for the winter, but I look forward to spring and seeing what else I can unfold for her in her future,” Joe said. “As a parent our only real job is to support our children and help them grow into strong adults. Working on Meradeth’s dreams are important to me. It’s a fun job, and somebody has to do it. I’m happy that somebody is me.”
