Masters, Slonecker win Red ‘n’ Green March Madness Bracket Challenge

Junior Hudson Masters won the Red ‘n’ Green Bracket Challenge.

Junior Hudson Masters was the 2026 March Madness bracket challenge champion. Masters correctly picked Michigan to win and scored 1190 points, placing him in the top 10 percent of brackets worldwide. “I just kind of made the picks,” Masters said. Mathematics Teacher Amy Slonecker was the teacher’s champion, scoring an even 1000 points. Both winners received Walmart gift cards. Congrats to everyone who participated!

Junior Colin Dalton signs into his University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh account. Dalton has taken several CAPP classes in the past and will continue to take them. “If you’re planning on going to college, it can save you money because it’s cheaper to take the courses here compared to having to go to college,” Dalton said.
CAPP students begin application process
Show choir performed at 2026 Solo & Ensemble. “Earlier this year our performance consisted of two songs that we performed for judges at Solo & Ensemble,” freshman Arcenia Morales said. The group performed “Heart of Stone” from the Broadway musical “Six” for a starred first place.

Seniors play last softball home game
The varsity soccer team comes together in celebration for their 4-1 win against Mauston on April 30. The team has beaten all conference teams throughout the first half of their season. “As the season goes on, we’ve understood more and more how to do this as a team, and we’re all excited to finish this season off strong,” junior Gwendolyn Bruce-DeMuri said. Their next game is away against New London, an opponent they have not faced, on May 19.
Girls soccer stays hot midway through season

Our team is fully committed this year. We weren’t committed last year, and this year we believe we're going to win,” Lichtenburg said.
Baseball begins on challenging note
The Green Lake County Special Olympics Basketball team, “Stars 2,” gathers after qualifying for the state meet on March 1. “State is a whole different level of energy. The atmosphere is electric — bigger crowds, more teams, and a lot of pride from athletes, families, and coaches. For some of our newer athletes, competing at state is something they’ve dreamed about, and being there gives them a huge confidence boost,” coach Toby Trochinski said.
Special Olympics opens doors for community members

Thomas McCarthy is a Berlin High School senior. He is a Red ‘n’ Green reporter. He is part of the cross country, basketball, and track & field teams, and is a competitive athlete who always looks forward to practicing and competing. McCarthy is also the president of the Finance Club and a member of the Academic Decathlon. He hopes to pursue a career in business, and to improve his photography skills in journalism.
