Senior Alivia Davey went to her second state competition last weekend at the Madison Kohl Center.
“I placed second,” Davey said.
Last year Davey placed fourth.
“My mindset has changed a lot since last year because I’m more confident and familiar with the open space and I was less surprised,” Davey said.
Davey said she is happy with the improvement she made since last year.
“It went very well and I’m glad I could end the year with second,” Davey said.
During state Davey had to beat five opponents to get first place at state.
“I had to beat three opponents to get to finals,” Davey said.
Davey said one of her toughest opponents was a girl she wrestled in the finals. Davey mentioned that the opponent was a head thrower and it was hard to beat her because she let herself walk into it.
“One of my successes was beating the girl that I lost to last year in the semifinals, so it was pretty exciting,” Davey said.
